I stayed here recently after attending an event at Boardwalk Hall in AC. All the hotels near the boardwalk were booked or way too expensive, so I was excited to find such an inexpensive hotel less than 20 minutes away. I had some reservations going in, as there were quite a few bad reviews online. I’m happy to say that we had an extremely pleasant experience at the Relax Inn! The hotel is located at the end of a quiet street and was pretty much the only thing around. It didn’t seem like anyone would head down that street unless they were staying at the hotel. There was plenty of parking in the lot, and check in was a breeze! The room was nice, but like other reviewers have said, a little outdated. The bed was super comfy, and there was a nice sized hot tub in the room. We didn’t get a chance to use it since we got back to the room so late after our event and were exhausted, but we turned it on and it seemed to work fine. We were right around the corner from Historic Smithville, so we spent the day there before heading to Boardwalk Hall later that night. We didn’t get back to the hotel until after midnight, and there was no one out anywhere near the hotel. Nice and quiet when we got back and we slept great. Check out was even quicker and easier than check in! The man at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. I would definitely stay here again next time I go to Atlantic City!
We love the feeling you get in an old B & B - like you're staying with an old friend, with charm and character surrounding you. In the best B & Bs, you feel like you're at home while you're really in a luxurious home, and we had a treat staying for a night at the Carisbrooke. We weren't able to be here long, but it was a quiet, charming, cozy respite in off-season Ventnor. We were minutes from AC and the major routes. The attention to detail and exquisite breakfast is one to remember. The Carisbrooke was a good value and we will stay again when we are in town.
I travel to the area a couple of times a year to visit family and I am so glad I found Carisbrooke Inn. I recently stayed there for the second time in a year. Unlike most of the hotels in the area I've tried, it was quiet and relaxing. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I found it to be exceptionally clean. Room 6 is one of their smaller rooms, but perfect for me. Do not think about skipping breakfast, it is delicious, and the pancakes are a standout!
I booked last minute (1pm) of the day of our arrival. I needed a late check in with a romantic package for my anniversary. I had never stayed at a B & B so I was unsure of what to expect. The Inn Keeper/owner John was very patient as I discussed the options with my coworkers around me browsing through pictures and side conversations along the way. We arrived at 12:30am. All of the check in instructions were provided with no problems including parking information. We opened the door to find soft lights, soft music, rose petals on the bed with champagne, cheese and fruit plater just as planned. The next day breakfast reservations were on time as promised and you can see the ocean from the front room. The house was clean, bathroom was immaculate, and the B & B was pleasantly quiet. We would definitely stay here again and look forward to going back. THANK YOU SO MUCH JOHN!! It was a pure pleasure!
Very quaint village. The rooms had a very welcoming and rustic feel. Breakfast in a basket was great and the option to be able to bring it back to your room was even better. Everything was a short walking distance and all employees were very friendly especially the staff and Fred and Ethel's. Will definitely recommend to family and friends.
The people are the key here, and I mean all the people. the kids that help out around the property and cook just a real friendly atmosphere. LOVE it cant wait to come back.
We really love this place! We come each year and each year try to stay a day longer. Most importantly the rooms are always clean, the staff is always pleasant and accommodating, the breakfasts are delicious and have lots of food choices, and it is located only 1/2 block from an uncrowded beach. In addition, the Carisbrooke provides you with beach chairs, towels, and beach tags to use which is a big help. Usually they have cookies in cookie jar and wine and cheese in the late afternoon. They also have a refrigerator which you can use and is stocked with water bottles. There are several good restaurants within walking distance and all the restaurants in Ventnor are BYOB! You can walk on the boardwalk to Margate and Atlantic City (Ventnor is located in between). If you stay in one of the larger rooms, free parking is provided in a nearby lot which is a big advantage for us. Always enjoy our visit!
We stayed here because I had bought a Livingsocial.com coupon for this inn. We chose one of the rooms in the "annex," the building across the street from the inn, because the room looked nice in the photo and had a kitchenette. When we were shown our room, we were dismayed to see that many of the tiles in the bathroom were cracked, a big chunk had been knocked out of the closet door, the room looked shabby, no shampoo was provided, and there was very little space to get around the toilet to the sink. It turns out that the photo did not show much of the room. The "annex" is an old building that must have been lovely in its heyday but now has been cut up into parts and painted odd colors inside. The main building is charming, although some of the furniture is extremely worn and shabby. The proprietor let us move to a room in the main building, which was much nicer, although the bathroom door would only open halfway because the double bed blocked it. On the plus side, this place is half a block from the beach, the breakfasts are very good, and the waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating. The music was terrible (current top 40 or musak) and was piped in during breakfast. I would not stay here again but would recommend the main building to those looking for a reasonable place near the beach.
Our first stay in a B&B and it was perfect! Nick and Shirley are warm and welcoming hosts and excellent at what they do. The breakfast was delicious and the hospitality was unbeatable. We are definitely staying here again. Why would we ever stay in a hotel again? -Tim and Tara
Great location and relaxing place . This country style inn left us outstanding impression on how small boutique place could be kept clean and most part felt very inviting through whole stay . Rooms are spacious , newly painted with lots of free amenities in room itself . Bed was extra comfy make us wanna not get up and start our day next morning . Great customer service through out stay .
We've stayed there three time now and love it! Great location being close to Atlantic City but not in Atlantic City. 100 yards from the beach. Breakfast is full of options and great portions. Rooms are cozy with plenty of space. Internet. If you stay in the winter the rooms are very warm. Service is the best part. They are friendly and they went out of their way to think of the little things for us. I had flowers delivered and they set them in a vase in the room with my note on the table. My girlfriend was surprised and so was I. Of course we'll be back.
My boyfriend and I had a fun weekend staying in Smithville. The room was great, the reception was great, and the food in the area was delicious! We are planning to visit again!
I surprised my boyfriend with an overnight stay at The Colonial Inn and thought the accommodations were great. It was fun walking around during the day, eating on site, and the room was comfortable and spacious.
Charming Inn. Exceeded the enjoyment I experienced in the Great Britian Bed & Breakfast establishments I visited. No request went unsatisfied. Nice location. My pleasure to visit again soon.
We only stayed for 1 night, so the room we stayed in across the street from the main building was fine for one night. It was bright and clean and had a TV, desk and extra comfy chair to sit in. The bathroom was very small, but again, for 1 night it was fine. The only real drawback was there was no view out of the 3 nice windows other than the back / side of other buildings, so we couldn't really open the blinds. The people were nice, the happy hour from 5- 6 was really nice, and breakfast was over the top wonderful. We would definitely stay there again, but in a different room.
The wife and I went to the Carisbrooke Inn for a shore getaway and worked out great. The proximity to the boardwalk and beach is awesome. The fact that they provide beach chairs is also a bonus. Breakfast was delicious - particularly the pancakes. We were treated well and would come back again. A great spot right by the beach!
We stayed in the main building and absolutely adore this place. Like staying at Grandmas house with real wood floors/furniture. The bed was thick and luxurious. Just because breakfast was included did not mean it was limited or skimpy. It came so fast we joked that it was brought in from a diner! We kept peeking in the Main room because we would find treats at all hours. Steps from the boardwalk and less than 5min away from the Jitney that serves all casinos. That pretty much makes this our go-to place for every A/C escape from now on!
