Water view, away-from-it-all

4,6 en abril 17, 2016

I was new to this part of Florida, and was delighted by the location and the off-the-beaten path opportunity to totally relax. I explored nearby tourist spots, but also just spent a day reading by the water and enjoying the ospreys and other sea life. The hosts were gracious and full of information.

A liitle piece of heaven

Simply the best bed and breakfast the scenery is amazing and relaxing. Very abundant amounts of Manatees, dolphins and birds to view on a daily basis. Very romantic fell in love with my fiance here. Bill and Diane are great hosts and very knowledgeable of the area. They have become friends over the years with all our stays there. I recommend there B and B very much you will want to return over and over again. David and Jaimette

THE PLACE to stay in Matlacha!

4,0 en enero 06, 2016

Diane and Bill provide the ideal environment for rest and relaxation. Located on a quiet residential street, there are only 3 rooms available, all of which have a large patio facing the water and 2 long docks. The 2 top rooms on the third story provide the best views of the dolphin, manatee and many birds in the area. The best part is observing the 2 osprey who's permanent nest is just along side the house. Be advised that there is a sink and small refrigerator in the room, but no microwave, coffeepot, or other kitchen facilities. A very simple breakfast is provided, but its basically coffee, toast, cereal and a fresh fruit. The rooms are large, immaculate and filled with Old Florida decor. The price is very reasonable for a view like that, and we had a great time chatting with the other guests, as well as with Diane and Bill.

Don't think twice

What a great place to stay! We spent 3 nights here and every night was a picture perfect sunset. We stayed in room #2 on the 3rd floor which allowed us to observe the nesting osprey right off our balcony. Bill and Diane are the friendliest hosts. Their knowledge of the area and suggestions on unique spots that most visitors don't even know exist were spot on. It truly was like staying with family. The snook weren't in season (end of January), but the light at the end of the dock showed how plentiful they are at night. Everything was clean and well kept. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you again Bill and Diane. Mike and Allison New Baltimore, MI Jan 26-29, 2015

Simply Can't Go Wrong Here!

5 en mayo 05, 2014

Inn on the Bay is a beautiful 3-story house overlooking the water. We were immediately greeted by Diane & Bill (the owners who live on the 2nd Floor), given the local lay of the land and escorted to Room #2, up the interior, carpeted stairs on the third floor. We simply dropped our bags and immediately went out to the balcony to enjoy the magnificent view. We must have sat there for 2 hours, barely speaking to one another and taking it all in. The room is exactly what you see in the pictures…country charm, wonderfully appointed and tastefully decorated. Board games and binoculars are in the room. It was truly like being at home. There is a small refrigerator but no microwave. This is a very clean, private room and en-suite lavatory (believe me, I’m a germ-a-phobic who travels with an air mattress). Matlacha, though lazy, is incredibly lively. There is a major chain grocery/drug store about 2 miles up the road with a Subway, Beef O'Brady's (great food & service) & Chinese take-out. We even found a non-smoking sports bar about 6 miles away to watch the Mayweather fight. The local shops are simply beautiful for that afternoon nostalgic stroll with a magical hint of "yesteryear". Then there is Bert's Bar…a crowded little joint with live music and a party on steroids! Matlacha has the right mix of low key chill, plain ol' friendly folks and a nearby party! Breakfast is served, on demand between the hours of 8:00 a.m. & 9:00 a.m. You ring your buzzer 5 minutes before you come down for breakfast and Diane will be waiting for you with a beautiful breakfast tray consisting of homemade muffins, pineapple they grow on property, a variety of cereals, milk, coffee, & tea. The presentation is superb. Our second day included Blueberry waffles with a syrup made by one of their friends that needs to be bottled, marketed and sold in every grocery store in the world. Overall, our stay was incredible and way too short. We will definitely go back. LaWanda & Joe

This was the PERFECT bed and breakfast! It's in a GREAT quiet neighborhood on the water, but close to everything you may need (shops, beaches, restaurants). Matlacha is a small quaint and absolutely beautiful little island where the people all know each other and are very friendly and helpful! The rooms were clean, spacious, and OH THE VIEW!!!! Amazing sunsets!! We even stayed in room upstairs where you could see the sun come up in the morning from one window and then you can see it set at night from your porch/balcony. It's really beautiful. The hosts are GREAT - extremely helpful and provided us with everything we needed. They even gave us a ride when we had car trouble. The Inn's canoes are available anytime you want and the manatees, dolphins, and osprey's are a sight to see. All in all a delight!!!

Quaint, peaceful waterfront B&B

I just got back from my little getaway in Matlacha. I couldn't have chosen a better place to stay at! Bayview B&B in Matlacha truly is a gem!! The pictures posted on the inn's website are true to how the inn really looks....quaint, cozy, cute, peaceful, and nature surrounding! It has so much to offer & the rates for all it has to offer make it very affordable. I stayed here for 3 nights with my boyfriend (and wish we stayed longer!). The moment we arrived, we knew we made a great choice in selecting this inn. Diane & Bill were so kind and welcoming! They gave us great recommendations on places nearby to visit. The room was spacious, and the balcony view is just so gorgeous! Everyday we spent some time on the balcony admiring the pretty, peaceful scenery. There is so much nature to see. At breakfast on the deck, we saw manatee & dolphin! We took the canoe out & a dolphin was swimming about 30 feet from us! We also fished off the dock, and the fish were plentiful. I can't wait to return to this inn in the cooler months, when I'm told, more manatee hang around the inn! If you are at all in the SW area of FL, this B&B is a must to stay at! Thanks so much Diane & Bill :) Bernadette & Giulio

A Great Stay in Paradise

Aside from all the beautiful views and sunsets that we saw while we stayed here, we love to watch birds . One morning as we opened our blinds we saw an osprey eating a freshly caught fish right on our deck. What a thrill that was. We watched her for 15 minutes till she flew up into her nest 40 ft away. We will return again. What a great spot.

Enjoyed our two days at he Inn on the Bay. Wish we could have stayed longer as we found it peaceful and relaxing. The hosts were so helpful and gave suggestions of places we might enjoy in the area. We are planning on returning to the area again and will look forward to spending time at the Inn.
