I stayed 1 night at Sylvia's Irish Inn in October 2017. I arrived about 8 pm after a rainy drive from Chicago & Sylvia's husband kindly showed me around the Inn and let me choose my bathroom since I was the only guest. The bed was large & comfortable and room tasteful. In the morning I saw how beautiful and unique the house truly was, especially the intricately carved staircase. Breakfast was filling and Sylvia is a gracious, friendly host. The baked egg and pastrues & jam were delicious.was delicious

My wife and I have stayed in places from the upper peninsula of Michigan to Houston Texas and from Baltimore to Carmel California and never enjoyed a visit more than we did at Sylvia's Irish Inn. This place is way beyond great! The architecture, furnishings, hospitality and food are second to none. Our suite was over 900 square feet with original stain glass windows dating to 1895, unbelievable. It was clean and had gorgeous period furnishings along with a king sized bed with a great mattress. Sylvia is an outstanding hostess, cook and storyteller. Nothing better than a home cooked breakfast with a table set for royalty. If the was a 10 star rating I would give this place a 12. Thank you Sylvia for a lifetime memory. Gary & Elaine

We were in town to attend a family event and stayed for three nights at this wonderful bed and breakfast. Sylvia's Irish Inn is a historic Victorian style house built in 1895. It is in a quiet neighborhood near the University of Illinois campus. We chose the Dr. Lindley King Suite which is located on the third floor of the building. It is a huge room with antique furnishings, a stained glass window, a high ceiling and a very comfortable king size bed. Our hosts Sylvia and Ernie were very friendly and engaging. Sylvia is originally from Ireland hence the name of the Inn. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast mixed with lively conversation. One of the highlights was Sylvia's homemade muffins. When I mentioned to Sylvia how much I enjoyed the delicious Irish tea she served she gave me a take home gift of tea bags. If you are visiting Urbana and would like stay somewhere different than a typical hotel, consider Sylvia's Irish Inn!

We had a wonderful time with Sylvia. Breakfast was delicious. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Baths were clean and no waiting. Sylvia pays attention to detail, down to ironing the sheets. We plan to return soon.

Got to sleep on a great mattress in Dr. Lindley's room (900 square feet of space!) to awake well rested and ready to eat one of Sylvia's great souffles! It doesn't get better than staying at Sylvia's Irish Inn.

It is always hard to find a place to stay on this busy weekend but I was lucky enough to get a room booked with Sylvia a year in advance. This is a comfy place to stay and breakfast is absolutely fabulous. Sylvia and her team put so much attention and detail in the food and the dining experience. It was really enjoyable to talk with the other guests along with Sylvia, Ernie and team. If you are in the Champaign/Urbana area you will find a cozy room, best breakfast around and excellent service. Loved it!

I booked a weekend here for my (extremely picky) parents while they visited us. They were thrilled to be staying here. This is a unique, beautiful, luxurious B&B. The service, decor, and food is all top notch. You simply can't go wrong.

Sylvia and Ernie never disappoint. Every detail is covered, from the warm welcome to the clean and charming rooms to the fabulous breakfasts and fond farewell. When in C-U, wouldn't stay anywhere else!

My husband and I traveled to Urbana to visit our adult children. My daughter, who leaves a few blocks from the Inn, insisted that we just "had to stay at Sylvia's Irish Inn" because, "Mom - it's so gorgeous!! Everyone talks about it." We were hesitant at first. After arriving and meeting Ernie and seeing the Inn, we realized that our hesitancy was all for naught. What a lovely, beautifully maintained establishment. Pride of ownership and the craft of hosting are evident throughout the rooms and the service provided. A kinder, more gentile and caring pair of innkeepers than Sylvia and Ernie may be hard to locate. We were enthralled. Beds were oh so dreamy and comfy. I loved showering in the Victorian-style, clawed tub engulfed in billowing white curtains - like showering in a soft cloud. The food - can't rave on enough about the table services, the elegant dinnerware and exceptional food, prepared by their chef, Spiro. WONDERFUL!!! We have decided that Sylvia's Irish Inn will be our home away from home when visiting Urbana. Nothing else comes close to the experience. Highly recommended!!

Sylvia's Irish Inn was a majestic part of my stay in Urbana. The rooms are so homey and beautifully furnished, the breakfasts are fabulous, and the location was pretty great. Sylvia and Ernie are wonderful people, very easy to talk to, and they were immensely helpful for navigating the local towns. Sylvia's homemade blueberry and cranberry muffins were available for guests throughout the day! I am certainly coming back, and strongly recommend Sylvia's Irish Inn for any business or leisure trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sylvia's Irish Inn. The room home is a beautiful piece of period architecture with distinctive, personalized decor. The breakfasts were lovely, the company and conversation always interesting and lively, and Sylvia and Ernie were warm, welcoming hosts. Our fellow guests included an operatic tenor soloist in town for a performance, a dancer there to lead workshops at the university, some runners there for the annual marathon and a couple of retired college professors there for the same film festival we'd come for. We've already booked for this year's film festival, and hope to make it an annual event.
