I brought my group of 13 church members for some rest and relaxation in Keene Valley/Lake Placid following a long week of mission work in upstate NY and they loved it! From the rooms (especially the ones with the sleeping porches) to the breakfast and the amazing view of the stars at night, Trail's End was perfect! I've stayed there in the past for Ironman Lake Placid as well and it's a great place to relax before race day and stay away from all the craziness in downtown where most racers stay. If you're looking for a low-key yet amazing location to stay for your trip, stay at Trail's End Inn!
Overall very good. Would stay again. Improvements would be a better mattress in the Jay room and better air flow with windows and bathroom handles that go the right way. Different color on walls. The good stuff: Beautiful location, lovely inn, cookies in the afternoon and evening and scones in the morning. Very Homey and welcoming.
My husband and I took a trip to the Adirondacks to escape the heat and humidity of a Kentucky summer. We stayed three nights at Kiwassa Lake Bed and Breakast and totally unplugged and unwound. Our hosts were friendly and informative and made us feel right at home. Our room had a terrific view of the lake and we enjoyed hearing the loons at night. Lovely sunsets could be enjoyed on the dock. Great canoeing and paddling right out the front door. A common kitchenette with refrigerator was very handy for our lunches and wine. And we had nice relaxing 10 minute drive into town to try some interesting and enjoyable restaurants. We only wish we lived closer!
This is a charming Adirondack Inn with large, attractively furnished rooms and cozy common spaces. Breakfast is delicious. Staff were attentive, and were very helpful to elderly relatives in our party. Definitely recommended.
The inn and grounds made me feel like I was on a getaway for sure. Grounds were lovely. Innkeepers Sue and Dave were very nice as was their staff. Always cookies in the evening and scones in the morning - ' extra's on a plate '. Boot warmers, k-cups, beverages, fridge etc as extras and readily available. I do have a few items that would make the experience better. We stayed in the Jay room. A new mattress would be great. The mattress was not horrible, but well used and a bit 'springy'. The faucet handles in the bathroom turn the wrong way and the hot one comes out in a big surge unless you're careful. The windows are old and need to be propped up with a stick for air and the stick is not long enough to actually expose the whole screen area for maximum air flow. The color in the room is yucky. As I said earlier I would definitely stay again. Overall a thumbs up and a positive experience. A lovely, warm and inviting place.
My wife and I had been coming for many years. We have never been disappointed with the service attention to detail and old fashion hospitality. It is also situated on a beautiful property with immediate access to hiking trails. i love the options from a room with sleeping porch to full on apartment when we bring more family.Simply Lovely...
Second stay for us and once again we enjoyed it very much. Beautiful views of Lake Kiwassa. We recommend this place for a relaxing and wonderful experience. The breakfasts are something special, you will need to try for yourself.
We always have a great stay here. We love the hot tub and fireplace, and the breakfast is amazing and vegetarian-friendly. Breakfast ends early, so they always let my partner bring me a tray, which I appreciate so much. Sitting on the big porch is so relaxing, and the homemade cookies are delicious. I highly recommend the Trails End Inn.
I've stayed at the Inn many times and each time is wonderful. The location is great, the hosts are very flexible and accommodating, the rooms are so clean, relaxing and beautiful. Food is AMAZING! The rest of the staff are wonderful, too and cookies in the afternoon doesn't hurt, either-great place to relax!
My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The b&b was clean and quiet. We had a lovely breakfast. I have a gluten/dairy intolerance and it was not a problem to have a breakfast that fit my dietary needs. I highly recommend staying here and we will consider staying here again if we are in the area.
We spent a lovely winter weekend at the B&B. We went there for the winter hiking which was amazing! Visit Mt Jo if you are lucky enough to have a winter visit! The location of the B&B is amazing and the rooms have a warm lake house charm. Very fitting for the area. Lake Saranac is within minutes of driving distance. Marjorie and Cliff are great hosts! I would be thrilled to get a chance to go back in the summer!
We've been going to Trail's End for the past 12 years. It is a very comfortable place to stay, and with a great breakfast there's plenty of fuel for a hike. And, the innkeepers, David and Susan, are the best.
I appreciate the effort that goes into the breakfast dishes, but they are too fattening for me. I would prefer simpler, standard breakfast fare, such as eggs and ham, eggs and home fries, pancakes and ham or bacon, that kind of thing. I also wish they had yogurt and a lot more fruit at breakfast. I want a healthy breakfast.
This was our first stay at the Inn for a long weekend Snowshoeing and hiking with several family members. Our experience was exceptional. The rooms were quaint, clean and comfortable. The shared living areas were cozy and arranged in a pleasing manner. The breakfasts were delicious and had ample amounts of food choices -juices, muffins, cereals, fresh fruit and a main entrée. The staff was pleasant and very accommodating. Although we did chat with the owners before we left, for the most part, the atmosphere is very private. If you like the outdoors, Trails End is conveniently located near trails/activities. We will definitely return to the Inn for our next winter excursion!
This warm and welcoming Inn has become our favorite place to stay. We stayed here over the summer and enjoyed a cool, comfortable few evenings. We just stayed again for winter sports and loved the warm, cozy evenings. The Inn keepers create a homey atmosphere, the ambiance is lovely, the furniture is comfortable, the food delicious and the bedrooms charming. We will be back for another stay on our next vacation!
This is a wonderful, low-key, well-established inn in a perfect location at the edge of the woods, a 5-15 minute walk from everything -- including many trail heads as well as the few stores and eating establishments -- in Keene Valley. Friendly, but guests treat the place as their own and come and go accordingly. Simple but very comfortable. Very quiet even when full, so it really has the feel of one's own vacaton home.
Have stayed here twice, and both times totally impressed with the quality, warmth, hospitality of the experience. Informal, yet efficient. Beautiful setting, lovely dining room, and comfortable public spaces. Breakfast is great!
A beautiful rustic nest at the foot of the Adirondack High Peaks. Service is more than awesome! Breakfast is delicious! You will totally enjoy the feeling of living in an old building located in the middle of a quiet nature. Will return for sure!
