This was our second stay and it was again a lovely place to stay! John pays attention to all the details, and he cooks a marvelous breakfast! We stayed in the Egyptian room and loved all the appointments. Between the room and the shared bath, there was every imaginable toiletry and small household item you might need. I am always reticent to share a bath, but it was never an issue as the occupants of the other two rooms were on an entirely different schedule. My wife and I will definitely be back!
A friend and I stayed here last month. The owner, Mr. Truett, must have put incredible thought and work into the rooms that we had. My friend stayed in The Egyptian Room and spent a lot of time just looking at the details, furnishings, etc. We got to choose what we wanted for breakfast and I had one of the best omelets that I've ever tasted.
My husband and I stayed one night while in Western PA for a family event. The Old Parsonage is a beautiful old house with fascinating decor. We stayed in the Egyptian Room which was large enough for our needs. The breakfast was delicious with very generous portions. I grew up in the area so I really enjoyed talking to John about local things.
I have taken the opportunity to stay here twice & am looking for an 'excuse' to stay here again! Both times I attended music concerts in the area! One time , had to get to work too, so couldn't stay as long as I wanted too! I just enjoy also the scenery in the area! Can be close to the city without being in the city & that is always a major positive!! Cozy unique rooms; delicious breakfasts! He treats you like a close friend or even 'family' when staying there! I would highly recommend it! I would like to come back soon myself!!!
The Old Parsonage became my home away from home foe 3 days. Never have I felt so welcome and comfortable in a B&B setting. It had a great mix of charm and quirkiness that made it truly memorable . John is the consummate host and the acommidations were comfy and spotless. I will be returning..........
My husband and I stayed at this B&B on July 24 and 25. It was our first-ever stay at a B&B, and we didn't quite know what to expect. It was great! The owner, John, was very friendly and helpful (we forgot toothpaste; he came to the rescue at 8:30 p.m.). The house itself is beautiful -- you can move from an ancient Egyptian bedroom to a Victorian-type music room to a dining room that appears as if it came out of a castle. It was super clean -- even the bathroom -- at all times. Our breakfasts were amazing, and John sat and ate with us and was an excellent host. I mistakenly ordered pancakes one morning, but that was not his fault: It was mine. And I LIKED them, which is a huge compliment to his cooking, because generally I do not like pancakes at all. My grits, eggs, bacon, etc., were excellent, as well. Just a few notes for first time travelers -- This home has a shared bathroom. It was not a problem, at all, but it may not be to some peoples' tastes. Additionally, if you book the Egyptian room (which is really cool) you must like a very firm bed! All in all, our stay was excellent. We more-than-likely will return, and we will definitely recommend to friends.
Town was very quaint and our bed at The Old Parsonage was perfection. Owner was very helpful in making a antique store connection for us when we had very limited time and in all regards was most considerate. I would give the B & B a four out of five rating only because the shared bathroom is not to everyone liking but if you like the eclectic and have a sense of fun you should not miss this.
My husband and I stayed here back in August while we were in town for a wedding. The Old Parsonage is a quirky and fun place to stay. It is full of interesting collectable items, and the rooms are themed. We stayed in the Royal suite and it was quite cozy and spacious. John is a friendly and generous host who went out of his way to make sure we felt at home. The breakfast was delicious with a medieval themed menu to match the medieval themed dining room! If you're in the area, check this place out for sure!
We have been to many B&Bs and this is our favorite. The breakfasts are outstanding. The building was first used as a parsonage about 100 years ago and retains its character after its renovations. The owner/host, John, installed modern conveniences with wonderful antique furniture.
We were so lucky to find this phenomenal B&B! Everything was very clean and the breakfast was first rate in every way. John was a pleasure to talk to and very accommodating. We look forward to visiting again. -Chuck and Mary-
I stayed at the Old Parsonage B&B 15 days in June awaiting the birth of my first grandchild. John has taken great care in preserving the heritage of the old parsonage; but adding his own unique detail and style to the various rooms. He is a gracious host and provides a wonderful selection of items for breakfast. During my stay I met several people from Ohio, Virginia and Florida which provided interesting and lively breakfast conversations. Future plans to visit my new granddaughter will include staying at the Old Parsonage Bed & Breakfast.
My husband and I stayed at the Old Parsonage BnB the night of our wedding night and were pleasantly surprised! We were greeted when we arrived at midnight with such a welcoming feeling! The owner made sure we were settled and comfortable before he left us for the evening. And the best part was FOR SURE the breakfast!! Fresh fruit and a large omlette with our choice of juice or coffee!! I rate the place overall a 5/5 without a doubt!
My boyfriend and I decided to stay here for a night to celebrate an anniversary. I found it online and found it was near my house. I called John to set up the reservation and he was very friendly! When we arrived he showed us around and made us feel very at home. We stayed in the Egyptian Room and it was absolutely awesome. For breakfast, we were given a variety of delicious choices and were able to choose what time we ate. Overall I give the Old Parsonage an A+ and would 150% go back!!! Thank you John!
My wife and two young boys stayed here in July 2012. Amazing place for the whole family. Amazing charm! Convenient to the city of Pittsburgh where we got to see the Pittsburgh Pirates play and tour the city. Absolutely love this place. John was amazing as well, very kind and helpful. Thanks for a few day of rest. Chris, Lora, Torin and Declan Jarrell
My wife and I frequent relatives in the area and felt like we shouldn't always impose on them for a place to stay, so over a year ago we went on a search for a B&B. After finding The Old Parsonage we've never stayed anywhere else. Rooms are comfortable and super clean, the Breakfasts are 5 Star every time and best of all the owner and is now a good friend of ours. You can't go wrong with this one.
We were visiting our son and the Parsonage B and B was only 2 miles from his house. What a pleasant surprise to find such a lovely, clean, charming place with and incredible host. John's hospitality is beyond the best. We have only two suggestions: luggage racks in all rooms and a king size bed in the Royal Suite so we can stay in it next time.
We needed a place to stay for after a wedding just blocks away. EVERY hotel/motel in the area was booked the entire weekend. It was late in the evening, around 10:00 p.m. when a friend referenced the Old Parsonage B&B. The amazing Innkeeper answered his phone, and told us he had a room for us. The next morning we reserved the room for the night. You seriously couldn't have a more hospitalic owner of this incredibly clean, beautiful B&B. The antique furniture, and overall appearance of this building is just great. We stayed in the Lilly Bone room. The Egyptian room looked amazing! We were running so late in the morning and had to skip an incredible assortment of breakfast goodies that were laid out for us. I AM TRULY REGRETFUL for that. The fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, pancakes, etc,,,, whatever you wanted was there. I couldn't of been more happy with our stay. Just wish it was a longer stay, but we live 3 hours away from the place and had to get on the road. Would have like to tour the building more and the old church next door. Thanks for a great stay.
