Having neglected to make reservations in the area for a necessary trip, this was a comedy of errors that turned out to be one of the finest experiences we have had in recent times. A last minute choice of lodging, a facility just beginning their future as a bed and breakfast, and people in charge, with a desire to satisfy their first customers, all came together to make this encounter, into an experience that will not soon be forgotten. A beautiful, but intimate compound, nestled on a snow covered mountain side, Angel's Rest Retreat is a real jewel, in the traditional B&B world. Extremely quiet and secluded, it gives one the feeling of using a friend's house, while they are out of town. Add to that, a staff with an attitude of giving complete customer service and attention to the smallest of details, the end result is what we experienced during our stay. As this is not a full time B&B, and serves as a retreat for small groups (up to 28 people), scheduling a getaway at this beautiful property will need to be worked out in advance with the staff as priority is given to retreats, family functions, and even a couple of opportunities for lucky couples to share this intimate venue for their wedding. I find myself in a difficult position when writing this review because Angel's Rest is one of those "finds" you rarely encounter in life, and want to keep for yourself, even though you know you must share with others.
My boyfriend and I decided to getaway for a long weekend. The log cabin b&b was such a gem. Our innkeeper made us feel right at home and served us breakfast each morning. The b&b was clean, cozy, and very cute and perfect for a long weekend away. We would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it to others. Erika & Dan
We stayed at the Log Cabin inn the week of October 12th, 2016, for one night. It's a great B&B, very secluded and peaceful. Kathy was very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. That's a delicate balance that not all B&B hosts are able to handle. The house is designed as a B&B with the two guest rooms directly off the main living/dining room area. Everything was very clean. The breakfast was great - good quantity and quality. We would definitely stay there again, especially if we lived less than 3000 miles away!
We stayed at the Log Cabin while doing some genealogical research in the Leyden area. The area is quite remote, and there are very few options for lodging. But this little cabin provided a quiet and comfortable retreat after several days in the hustle and bustle of Boston. There are only two guest rooms, but they were comfortably appointed, and quite adequate for our needs. The innkeepers, Kathie and Glen, were very accomodating and quite helpful in guiding us to the various places we wanted to go. Our breakfasts were quite delicious and prepared "from scratch" each morning! Although it is modest in what it provides for the traveler, it is very clean and comfortable, and is situated in a lovely wooded area that is private and quiet. We found it to be quite delightful, and will definitely put it on our "must stop" places for future trips to the Leyden MA area.
This is a beautiful, two room B&B, off the beaten path in the cool, quiet Leyden, MA countryside. It would be a treat for anyone, not just those like me who are trying to learn a bit of local history. The bed was extremely comfortable and was equipped with one of those supportive pillows that allowed me to sit up and read. Our hostess was wonderful, helpful and informative. And, it was a pleasure to chat with her the other guests. Our visit left us with a glow that stayed with us for the rest of our journey.
The Log Cabin is a truly unique and wonderful place; remote, serene, warm and beautiful. The great room is perfect for sipping coffee and reading by the fire as the snow falls. The bedrooms were private and very well designed. In fact, you can tell a lot of thought went into designing the entire space. The bed in the room was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept, prompting Kathie to disclose where she got it (locally of course) so that I could possibly buy one for myself. Breakfast was flexible and delicious and there is plenty of fine dining just a short drive away (The Farm Table at Kringle Candle). All in all, it was a magical weekend getaway for my lady and me.
My wife and I had been given a gift certificate to a bed and breakfast for one night, we looked at a bunch of them but most were all older houses/fancier houses which we are laid back people so it didnt suit us, we came across The Log Cabin Bed and Breakfast and loved it! We were warmly greeted when we arrived and Kathie had the perfect mix of being hospitable but giving us our alone time. Everything was new and in good condition and living quarters were kept very warm. The Sheep in the backyard was and extra cool feature. She made us a excellent breakfast which was well rounded nutritionally and very tasty. I and my family will be staying there again for sure!
So happy that we discovered The Log Cabin! One of the most relaxing getaway's we have had in years. Many thanks to Kathie (and the gang listed above) for such a wonderful and romantic stay!
We spent one night at the Log Cabin and it was perfect. It's a perfect, secluded getaway. The room is comfortable and roomy. The bathroom is modern. Even the sheep in the back yard are fun! I would highly recommend staying here.
Kathie was an incredible host! The place is very charming with cozy rooms and a pleasant sit-in area. The sheep in back make for some interesting conversation and some company when you're enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. It's a little off the beaten path which makes for a really idyllic stay but it's also just a short drive to Brattleboro and other outdoor activities. We went in late April, which is what I guess the locals call "mud season" but it was still really pleasant and when there wasn't a lot to do, our hosts made amazing breakfasts and Brattleboro's eateries and breweries were INCREDIBLE. We at the the Mill Stone 5 times in 2 days. We will certainly be returning for another stay.
We had a lovely one night stay earlier this month. We loved the secluded location and the beautiful log home. We "slept like a log" in the comfortable bed. Breakfast was fresh, all homemade and so delicious! Kathie really made us feel at home. We wished we had more time to enjoy the common room and walk the area.
This was our first B&B experience and we loved it. We were initially wary about what we would find at the end of the long dirt road entrance; however, upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised. This cozy cabin, nestled in the woods was a nice blend of comfort and aesthetics. The knotty pine interior is beautiful, the bed was plush, and we enjoyed having a drink by the fire in the "great room." The best part, however, was Kathie. She was a wonderful hostess and a great cook! We look forward to returning!
I'm not much into bed & breakfast places just because I'm not an "antique-y" person & not big into seclusion. But this place was absolutely the perfect blend between rustic and modern. The woodwork of this house was absolutely gorgeous. I have a newfound appreciation for log cabins because of this place. Kathie was so hospitable and accommodating that it was more that I could ask for. Her cooking was phenomenal, she was very charming, and the bed.... The bed was so incredibly comfortable that I didn't want to get up!! I was expecting a bed on a creaky box spring and creaky wooden floors. That was not the case here. Not to mention the bathroom was excellent (especially the shower) & the view was perfect. I highly, highly recommend this bed and breakfast and I hope to be back one day! Very very very satisfied guest :)
Our stay at the Log Cabin Bed and Breakfast was excellent. I can't say enough good things about it. Kathie was pleasant and accommodating. The B and B is beautiful, clean, and quiet. We will definitely be coming to stay again this spring.
This was my first Bed & Breakfast and the experience was GREAT! Kathie was very kind and made sure we were comfortable with everything. I only wish we could've stayed longer to enjoy it. We will be back!
The Log Cabin B&B is a wonderful place to stay. The cabin is immaculate and architecturally stunning and the rooms are warm and comfortable. The great room, where you can sit to enjoy a warm drink and play a board game or two, is also lovely. Kathie was very friendly and was willing to accommodate our schedule for breakfast. We would definitely stay here again!
This is an absolutely gorgeous place run by a very gracious & accommodating couple. This log home is beautiful and our room was immaculate & well appointed. Off the main road a bit , however, that provides you with a very quiet , peaceful place to stay. I haven't slept that well in quite some time. I have done nothing but rave about how wonderful this place is to all of my friends and have suggested that they stay there as well. Definitely recommend this as a choice if you are looking for somewhere to stay overnight that is close to Brattleboro, VT and about a half hour ride from Keene, NH
This Bed and Breakfast was so relaxing. The bed and room were extremely comfortable and very clean. The location was a bit off the beaten path, but that added to the charm and peace, and Kathie's directions are very helpful for finding your way. The food was not over fussy, but homey and delicious. We would definitely stay there again.
Kathie is a warm and dedicated host. This place is a sanctuary. New, clean, modern with your own in room heating unit control, hot shower, and your own private porch. At night it is country dark. It feels like it's just you and the stars. In the morning you can look forward to Kathie's breakfast, no need to eat anywhere else. Head into Brattleboro, VT just a short drive and eat at the Whetstone Station. Great Food!
