Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 2 quart baking dish (or 6-8 small ramekins if preferred).
Cream butter (at room temperature) and sugar with electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. With mixer on low speed, gradually add flour mixture until incorporated.
Spread batter in baking dish, Scatter fruit on top. Bake until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean and top is golden brown, about 45-50 mins. Let cool, then cut into 8 slices. For each serving, dust confectioner's sugar over the slice then top with fresh whipped cream and a garnish of fresh fruit. Enjoy!
