August 13-15, 2017 Bob and Ellen are the most wonderful, gracious hosts ever! We had an amazing stay at the Ludington House Bed & Breakfast recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and view several of the lighthouses in the area. Although Julie had stayed at B&B’s before, I (Michael) had not and this was an amazing experience that set a VERY HIGH BAR for future stays at other B&B’s. Ellen greeted us at the door and welcomed us very warmly with a quick tour before personally taking us up to show us our room for the stay, which was larger than it looked in the photos! Bob met us a short time later as he tended the house on a beautifully sunny day. The downtown area was only about 4 or 5 blocks away - just right for a pleasant stroll to dinner. The beach was less than a mile away and a wonderful morning walk before breakfast. And the breakfast - WOW! Amazing quiche, easily the best, fluffiest quiche I have ever tasted. Everything was made fresh. The next morning we were treated to incredible raisin bread french toast with REAL maple syrup and meats from Sanders meats. The nights were quite and breezy and we experienced beautiful sunsets on the beach before strolling back to the Ludington House to sit in the quiet parlor. The stay was definitely too short, but left an amazing impression. If you visit Ludington, Mi, or are traveling close by, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this great experience. We will be returning soon. Definitely! Thanks Bob and Ellen. Julie and Michael Ann Arbor, Mi
Loved the hospitality! The rooms were very clean with estremely comfortable mattresses!! And I can't say enough good things about the breakfast! Bob took great care to make sure each item prepared was nothing but the best! Would highly recommend this B&B!!!
This was the first time for us at a B&B. The hospitality was wonderful and the home was just beautiful. If every B&B is as great as this one, we will be staying at many more.We will for sure go back to this one. Bob and Ellen are very nice host.
Bob and Ellen provide a great B&B experience. They were friendly hosts and very accomadating to my diet restrictions and by moving the window A/c on the warm night. There master suite was a treat for us, but all the rooms seemed to have charm and very well taken care of. We cane to Ludington for a short getaway and Ludington House became a big part of that memorable experience.
I found the Candelite Inn through Groupon, and it was honestly everything I hoped for and more. Melanie was so kind--she gave me coupons to get $2 off a bottle of wine at the winery nearby, provided suggestions about what attractions and restaurants to visit, and allowed me to stay an hour past the check-out time since I had a deadline at noon. She also was an amazing cook; she cooked about five different dishes for breakfast, and all of them were absolutely phenomenal. There were different snacks that were offered throughout the day--ice cream, sweets, granola bars, and peanuts, to name a few. There was a flat screen TV in the Victorian room and there was a decent selection of movies to choose from. The room was very clean and there was complimentary shampoo, body wash, bubble bath, and robes in the bathroom. There was also wine glasses and chocolates in the bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and had soft blankets. There was also air conditioning in the room, which was definitely a plus since it was in the upper 80s when I visited. It was worth every penny and I definitely plan on visiting again soon!
Everything was amazing! Melanie has thought of everything from candles to candies to the softest blankets, towels and rugs. The amount of and quality of the food was unbelievable! She suggested activities and restaurants that were fabulous. Melanie and her family were wonderful hosts and we can not wait to visit again!!
My fiance and I found Candlelite Inn through Groupon. We didn't know what to expect since we had never stayed at a B&B. Our experience was great and we would strongly recommend Candlelite! Melanie was a great host, very hospitable and attentive. We stayed in the Victorian room, spacious and clean. She was nice enough to include chocolate covered strawberries since the Romantic suite was booked. Breakfast was amazing with so many options. She also met everyones dietary needs. Overall this was a great experience with a B&B and we would definitely return!
We travel much and prefer B&B's. The hospitality at this one was exceptionally good. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this B&B. Very clean, everything really well done and great food!
We stayed for 2 nights on a summer getaway. Their attitude was very friendly and welcoming. Lots of little touches and amenities to make our stay enjoyable. The room was clean and comfortable. But the best part was the food! A wide range of delicious breakfast dishes to satisfy different palates, not to mention extra snacks, bottled water, and fresh baked goods to help recover at the end of busy, recreation-filled days. The next time we return to Ludington, this B&B will be our first choice.
My wife and I stayed at the Ludington House for our 5 year anniversary and it was amazing. The breakfast that was served in the morning was delicious. Great service and an amazing room! Definitely will stay here again in the future!
This was everything I ever could have wanted! They were amazing in every way and down to every detail. They knew my fiancee and I had just gotten engaged and made sure to make everything absolutely perfect for when we got there. The room was great, the food was delicious, and the friendliness of our hosts was amazing and if I am ever in that part of Michigan again, I will definitely go back!
My adult daughter and I stayed at the Ludington House Bed and Breakfast for two nights Easter Weekend 2016. It was our first experience in a bed and breakfast stay and we were blown away with the beauty of the home as well as the attentive and gracious manner of our Inn Keepers Bob and Ellen. Their home is absolutely gorgeous and is decorated impeccably with 19th century period pieces. Each room has its own full bathroom which is a detail that provided extra privacy and comfort to us. Our room was most comfortable and left my daughter and I very relaxed at the end of our stay. Bob and Ellen provided a delicious breakfast both mornings of our stay. They are excellent cooks and our dinning experience (as well as the entire stay) left us feeling very pampered. Fresh cookies, coffee, tea and hot chocolate available 24/7 was and indulgent perk as well. I would highly recommend the Ludington Bed and Breakfast. My daughter and I cannot wait to return! This is our sixth time we have stayed with Melonie and crew. Great food and service. Exciting breakfast with added snacks at night along with getting treated Like Gold. You need to come and stay with Mel. Mr &Mrs W Mattila
We were lucky to find an available room on the weekend of Octoberfest. Upon arrival it was clear that Karen had rolled out the red carpeting for us. The room was perfect, clean, quiet and comfortable. Karen's breakfast was fantastic and she made us feel like were visiting a friend. Great location on a quiet street with no traffic just a few steps from downtown. It's one block to the river and a short walk to the beach. You won't find a better location in Pentwater. We will definitely be back.
We were in Ludington for a wedding and stayed the night at this perfect inn. The room as well as the house is kept beautiful and comfortable. Very friendly people from arrival to departure. Breakfast was amazing. We will definitely be staying here again.
Great place to stay. Very clean, very friendly inn keepers, very accommodating (even for a vegan diet). Staying with Ola & Kathy was great. Will definitely stay their again whenever staying in the Ludington area.
We had a great time on our two night visit! I would definitely recommend this B&B. I went with a friend but would love to bring my husband back. Our room was great, beds were wonderful!!! Breakfast was delicious!
Melanie, Gary and Chris were all awesome! I cannot say enough great things about this place - you will be treated like royalty!! Everything was amazing, especially the food - we were full from the fresh homemade breakfast all day long! This was our first stay at a B&B and I don't think anything will ever top this. The room, although small (which we knew from the description on the website), was spotless and cozy. It was surprisingly soundproof (or the other couples that were there were extremely quiet) despite the fact that the rooms are all located on the same upper floor. We had ZERO complaints and are looking forward to returning. Just thinking about the breakfast, and the desserts we received when we checked in, are making me hungry....... :)
Our family of 6 stayed in the loft apartment. It had enough room for all of us and the fridge and microwave were great for heating up dinner we brought with us. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and provided information and suggestions for what we could do in the area. Breakfast was far beyond expectations with multiple hot options and homemade goodies. Definitely something for everyone and all 4 kids loved it (not an easy accomplishment!). I would highly recommend the Inn at Luddigton to anyone needing accommodation in the area. We will definitely be back again!
My sister and I recently stayed at the Inn at Ludington, what a wonderful time we had, the moment we walked in the door and was greeted by the owner Ola we felt at home, The house was rich with history and so nicely decorated with furniture from a century ago,The breakfast in the morning was 5 star!!! We would recommend to everyone to experience this beautiful house, We look forward to our next visit. Thank you Ola and Kathy
The Candlelite Inn has super friendly hosts. Along with making sure that everything is exactly as you need, they also have great advice about the area. The breakfast consisted of many specialty foods along with regular items. In addition the hosts were more than willing to cook anything you may want to order. Was the best, fanciest breakfast we have ever had. Also in the evening treats were available including ice cream. We would highly recommend as a place to stay.
We stayed at the Candlelite in the Romantic Retreat Suite and had a great weekend (April 2014). Melanie is so accommodating and welcoming, and she goes over the top with the breakfasts. Everything she made was fantastic and there was more than anyone could possibly eat. She also made sure there were snacks (homemade cookies and brownies) and beverages available at all hours Our room was comfortable and spacious and quiet.
Staying at the Candlelite Inn was an outstanding experience. The hostess was beyond accommodating, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the amenities were perfect. I can’ say enough positive. Oh. The food was excellent. The breakfast was an experience to remember. My friend, staying in a pet-friendly room, had this to say: After a day of sightseeing in Ludington, my pooch was dog tires. He found the accommodations at the Candlelite Inn B&B beyond all expectations.
