On arrival, no one answered doorbell, so we entered. We were shown to our hot room on 90F day, which could have been pre-cooled. Bath down hall was hot, no fan even, so spent 1/2 hour calling, looking, finally locating a man in garden to request a fan. It was obvious that a fan should have been a permanent fixture, without asking. Next morning, with a fixed, no-option breakfast time of 9 am, we searched for early coffee and tea while waiting to no avail. Nothing. By 8:45 a.m., not a soul in sight in the kitchen preparing anything. Found the same man who proceeded to make some coffee, and said "someone would be there at 9 am to fix us breakfast". That would mean we wouldn't actually eat until 9:30 am. We were furious at such casual and callous treatment, that we left after my wife was able to receive a reluctant apology from the gentleman. It was by now 9 a.m., and still no one had appeared in the kitchen. And this inn rates 5-stars??

We stayed here in August with two other couples for a friend's wedding in the area. Anna was extremely accommodating as we needed 3 rooms to be ready earlier than normal check out. She also gave great suggestions on where to go the next day and we had a wonderful day out. Best of all is the food here. Breakfast was amazing and people that work there are very nice. We are coming back to the area in September, unfortunately the rooms were booked, but will be coming in for the dinning. You will enjoy your stay here.

Not ever having been to the Hudson Valley, it was difficult to select a location as our base for our 2 day visit. The Borland House in Montgomery was perfect. We took a 2 hour tour of West Point, toured the Eleanor Roosevelt site and had lunch at the Culinary Art Institute of America in Hyde Park. Returning back to our room each day we were able to refresh ourselves with quiet and a comfy bed and get ready for a short walk to two great restaurants: Ward's Bridge Inn and Wildfire. The Borland House offers many different breakfast options. We were quite happy with our room...Isabelle, which was very private.

My wife and I (newlyweds!) wanted to skip town on Labor Day weekend, and the Borland House was the perfect spot for a getaway. Anna was amazing and friendly, and very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and the history of her beautiful home. She gave us great advice on vintage shops, live music, distilleries, and local restaurants, and everything from her cooking to her cheery disposition made our trip as wonderful as it could be. I'm sure we'll definitely be back at some point soon. Thanks Anna!

This is a great bed and breakfast that we stayed at for one night on Halloween. We really enjoyed the staff, the rooms were clean, and breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended!

I stayed at the Borland House in the fall, when the foliage in the Catskills was at its peak. It was something of a last-minute get-out-of-the-city lark, and it ended up being so perfect I went back again in December with my boyfriend for a quiet pre-Christmas celebration. The house is very charming and comfortable, located in the equally charming one-stoplight town of Montgomery. There are a couple of good restaurants in the town, but you can eat dinner at the house - the proprietor, Anna Frumes, makes a killer gnocchi. You'll get to eat her cooking even if you don't have dinner there when you come down for breakfast. There's a pretty impressive menu - I had the fried chicken and waffles, yum! Borland House was the perfect place to stay, both the amenities and the hospitality were excellent. Everything was comfortable and warm. I'll definitely be back again.

We chose the Borland House mainly because of its location--we wanted to visit the FDR library in Hyde Park and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point on the same weekend. The location was ideal for that. The proprietors of the Borland House were very accommodating and generous. All the breakfast options were delicious. We stayed in the oldest part of the house, which was interesting but the room is small.
