Mary was such a sweet host. She made sure we had everything we needed for the night including plentiful firewood for the lovely fireplace. The home has a quaint old time charm and set the stage for a perfect cold winter night. She is very conscious about the environment and uses eco friendly practices to maintain her b&b including a breakfast with local and organic produce. Thank you Mary for a lovely stay.

Just got back from an idyllic trip at Thyme in the Country in Hudson, NY. I chose this B&B as a fun getaway for my sister and me. Mary was lovely, warm, accommodating, and communicative from the very beginning. In spite of being unable to greet us at the door, she made sure that we knew how to get into the home and find our room. We were welcomed by a beautiful basket of fresh apples, and donuts with tea on the kitchen counter. I couldn't think of a more warm, cozy start to our trip. Mary knows what she is doing! The rooms are clean and quaint. There are two living rooms, one of which is filled with books and a wood-burning fireplace (which we so exquisitely made use of on our second night, with the accompaniment of hot cinnamon tea and freshly baked chocolate cake). We definitely felt the charm of the country life during our stay, which was a perfect break from the business of NYC. There are beautiful farms and orchards all along the drive to Thyme in the Country, making it a beautiful drive up to the B&B, as well as the perfect spot for daytime adventures and hikes. Thyme in the Country is also located right off of the main street, making it an excellent rest point when trying to get to/from Rhinebeck, Kinderhook, Hudson, etc. On top of all of this, Mary is just a lovely human being. She is so warm and pleasant to be around. She has really enriched her B&B with her aura, and you really feel it from the second you walk in. Please consider staying here if you are looking for a relaxing, humble, nourishing time in rural, upstate NY

We had a great time at Thyme in the Country. It was such a relaxing getaway. Breakfast was AMAZING every morning and Mary was so accommodating to our special dietary needs. Everything they serve is fresh, delicious, and made from scratch. The house was cozy and clean. Bedding was very comfortable and our room was well appointed. We stayed in October and spending the chilly nights by the fire was perfect. Mary was extremely friendly, hospitable, and fun to converse with in the morning over breakfast. She gave us tons of suggestions for places to visit in the area and things to do, and gave directions and maps. If you appreciate organic food and environmentally conscious special touches then Thyme in the Country is for you because Mary excels in these categories. On the last day my husband was feeling under the weather and she even called us the next day to check in and see how he was feeling. So thoughtful!! She was like an extended family member we had visited for the weekend, made us feel like we were home. Don't hesitate to stay here, Thyme in the Country will exceed your expectations.

Mary was an extremely thoughtful and kind host. We arrived to warm chocolate chip cookies, fresh ginger tea, and a toasty fire in the living room. Immediately, Mary made us feel right at home. The rooms were clean, cozy, and nicely decorated. There was a diverse collection of books throughout the house, which we really enjoyed. Robes, fresh towels, and shampoos were conveniently provided in our room. We woke up to the smells of an amazing gourmet breakfast. Mary used her property's farm fresh eggs, milk, and vegetables to create a delicious stuffed omelette, jalapeno cornbread, and baked apples. So tasty, organic, and fresh!! Overall, we had a fantastic stay, and just wish we could stayed and relaxed for a bit longer. It would be a long shot to find a more detail-oriented, passionate, and kind host as Mary. Highly recommend the trip!

You must go to this charming small cottage! My family and I went there for a weekend for the second time and it was just as great as the first time. The place is neat and clean, the food is delicious and the host, Mary, has a gift for making guests feel home. I can just highly recommend this wonderful place for people looking for a peaceful weekend in the country. Vanessa.

We had a lovely weekend at this bed and breakfast- Mary and Bill could not have been more lovely and make you feel at home in their bed and breakfast. This was out first time in Hudson and fell in love with the town and place we stayed. Bill introduced us to the farm animals- cows, pig, chickens- even let us pet the cow- had an amazing experience! The home is filled with lovely antiques and is very warm and inviting. Our room had great views of the leaves and farm! We cannot wait to return!

My girlfriend and I spent a full weekend at Thyme in the Country B&B, and were charmed from the moment we got to the house late Saturday afternoon. The rustic scenery, the land and farm animals, and the way the house and outside shed were decorated gracefully with antique furniture, tools and wall hangings brought us to a completely different place and time. The owners are extremely hospitable, and we felt right at home as soon as we entered the house. We were pleasantly surprised by the evening snack tray and honey-ginger tea that filled and warmed our bellies from the cold weather, as we really expected nothing more than a breakfast, typical of most B&B places. Without a doubt, I could easily tell that this is not just a business to Mary and Bill, but more of a passion that is integrated into their daily life. The food was amazing, ingredients obtained from local markets and farms, and the eggs, sausage and bacon came right from their backyard. The house is cleaned with all-natural solutions, as the owners are very much attuned to the importance of environmental responsibility and sustainability. We will definitely come back to Thyme in the Country on future getaways, and will wholeheartedly recommend this B&B to our friends and family.

Mary and Bill are wonderful, gracious hosts and welcome visitors to their home as if they are family. The house is pleasant and peaceful, filled in every corner with interesting antiques and artistic touches. The refreshing quiet of their corner of the country is only broken by the occasional moo of their charming cows and the songbirds visiting their fruit trees. The fresh, delicious food Mary and her family prepares is all gathered from the bounty of her garden, the fruit trees and the fresh milk of their cows and eggs from the chickens. Even the soap has been carefully handmade. Every aspect of a visit to Thyme in the Country is a delight, made even more special by the personal attention of Mary and Bill. You will leave not only refreshed and renewed but with the warmth of a new friendship.
Located at the top of the stairs, The Sumac Room at Thyme in the Country is a comfortable retreat, roomy enough with its leather easy chair and ottoman to enjoy a quiet glass of wine to help you unwind after your trip. The decor is simple, comfortable and not frilly. The wainscoted bathroom has a claw-foot tub and separate shower, the mixture of antique and new furnishings, original artwork and hooked area rugs are reminiscent of an old country farmhouse.
Located in the northeast corner of our house, the Rose Room features three large east-facing windows that look out over our pool, flower gardens and meadow. Curl up and enjoy tea in the corner recliner. The private bath has a combination shower/tub and organic shampoos, bath supplies and lotions. The cozy fireplace heater adds warmth in winter and a soft glow in summer. Secretary desk, leather-topped table, original artwork and soft colors of beige and pale rose create the feel of a 19th century farmhouse bedroom. This room also has a large closet for storage and easy access to electric outlets and good lighting.
Situated on the west side of the house, the Lavender Room has a very peaceful atmosphere. The queen-size bed has an organic mattress. Two comfortable chairs can be pulled up to a drop-leaf table to share a private tea. The table also makes a convenient computer work space. The Lavender Bathroom, constructed of recycled and eco-friendly materials has a shower, dual-flush toilet and vanity area
The Chamomile Room is bright and sunny. It adjoins the Lavender Room through its bathroom becoming the Lavender Suite, and it can be booked separately for mid week stays for those looking for single bed accommodations and families with children 5 years and up. This small bedroom contains 2 beds, one is a twin and the other a 3/4 size bed. Both have organic mattresses and natural fiber bedding. This room works best in conjunction with the Lavender Room, since it is a small room with minimal furnishings. There are a few hooks and one shelf to hang clothing and stash small items.
Reduce your carbon footprint by another 50% in privacy and comfort. Renovations have just been completed on our newest accommodation and every aspect of its construction has been evaluated for environmental sustainability. The water is solar, the toilet is composting (Clivus Multrum), the heat a Monitor Kerosene Heater, insulation is cotton, paints are low VOC and our own Milk Paint, the list of features goes on. Breakfast is social, local and delicious.
