My wife and I returned to the Taylor House Inn after 5 years and found that the accommodations were, if anything, better than the first time we visited. Sorry that we missed Tessa, but Bernard treated us more like family than guests and well be talking about this breakaway from our daily routine for years to come. We've decided to keep returning to Taylor House until we've had a chance to stay in each of the separate rooms.
We were more than happy with our 2 night stay at the Lazy Bear Lodge. It is a great location, convenient to several towns nearby. The hosts were very friendly, and offered great suggestions for things to do in the area. Breakfast was great both days.
Came across this gem while searching bedandbreakfast.com. This was exactly as advertised. A warm, cozy, mountain lodge feel, with great views and inviting rooms and shared spaces. Located with easy access to Valle Crucis, Banner Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock, and the ski slopes at Sugar and beech. John and Marsha were incredibly pleasant and had plenty of local tips for dining and things to do. highly recommend this place for your bed and breakfast getaway. On a side note, the private nook off the Black Bear room is a nice place to get engaged!!!!!
Really enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and large. View was great and the location was very good. Food was good and were able to use refrigerator. Marcia and John were very friendly. We plan on going again.
We had a great stay at the Taylor House. Loved the location, our room was perfect and the bed was so comfortable. Big bathroom and pretty quiet and private for a B&B. Nice people and delicious breakfast. Brownies and wine and cheese for afternoon treats were a nice touch. We'll be back.
Taylor House Inn is well-located about 10 minutes from Boone. It has large rooms, a great porch, and very attentive innkeepers who go out of their way to make you comfortable. Tessa and Bernard are extremely helpful with any need you may have and Tessa's breakfasts in her lovely dining room are amazing and memorable. They stock the in-room refrigerator and provide afternoon snacks that help to keep you going throughout the day. There are some nice walking spots nearby. I would not hesitate to return.
John and Marsha made us feel like family. The location is away from hustle and bustle of Boone. The property is gorgeous, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. We highly recommend the Lazy Bear!
The Lazy Bear lodge is a cozy home away from home. From the comfy bedrooms to the delicious breakfast, John and Marsha have created a welcoming atmosphere in this magnificent lodge. The views alone would bring us back, but the personal service we received will make us life long patrons of this lovely bed and breakfast.
This B&B is awesome! I was looking for a special place, very close to Boone, to celebrate my birthday and we just happened to find this wonderful B&B. It is nestled in a gorgeous setting overlooking Hanging Rock Mountain, what a view! It’s a lovely log cabin with huge timbers and a rustic, comfortable space perfect for relaxing, painting, reading and getting to know other guests. The owners, Marsha and John, were awesome and could not have been more accommodating. Breakfast, each morning, was scrumptious, being served on the huge deck with a lovely Mountain View and complete with a stimulating musical ambiance. Our room was perfect, allowing a beautiful view from our private porch and the constant gentle sound of the babbling creek from our window. This is one of those special places tucked away for total r&r or easy access for nature loving seekers. It is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and lots of hiking trails, Linville Falls and Caverns, just minutes from the “original” Mast General Store in Valle Crusis, ie. So much to do! A wonderful find and we will be back!
The Taylor House Inn is just lovely, it is a quaint little spot and off the beaten path. My husband and I have stayed here twice, ten years between stays and it was just as lovely as the first time we visited. Tessa and Bernard are wonderful and Tessa is an amazing chef. They have upgraded us twice on our stay and we have loved the rooms each time.
We celebrated our anniversary and it was perfect. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, the food was great and the house was very nice and cozy. Sunday they surprised everyone with mimosas at breakfast, it was very nice. They were very knowledgeable about the area and great places to eat. We would stay there again.
From the first turn up the drive, we knew we had made the right decision to stay at Lazy Bear. The Lodge is so charming as well as new owners John and Marsha. We stayed in the Black Bear room on the first floor, wonderful! Loved seeing the deer every day and all the birds! Both Marsha and John are fabulous in the kitchen, everything was delish! The Lodge is in a perfect location to all you want to see in the area. A great place to stay if you go to the Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain. We will want to return to this charming place!
My wife and I booked the Lost Creek room at the Lazy Bear Lodge for our anniversary weekend in the mountains. We had a wonderful time. The lodge is well run, clean, and features personal service that's there when you need it, yet out of the way such that you feel like you have the place to yourself. From morning breakfasts carefully prepared by the owner on the cool deck with the amazing view, to the soft lighting in the spacious great room in the evenings, this stay exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend Lazy Bear to our friends, and now you, the public. - Collin & Tanya
